I CANT fall asleep!! HELPP ME PLEASE!?

lets say i want to sleep at 10, i go 2 bed put some music on and get into bed. i cant fall asleep.
-i put on music, but i am obsessed if the volume is right and i always sing along = )
-i try not to think, but i do anyways
-i try reading, but i get hooked and dont wanna stop.
-i imagine myself on a beach, but i make up a story and always want to finish it, making me more awake!
-even if im dying to sleep, i keep thinking.just thinking about anything and everything.
-people say drink warm milk, i hate milk.
i eventually fall asleep (3hours) but it takes a long time like from 1/2 an hour to 3 hours and in the mornings i dont wanna get up and im not energised at all. and i only get 6-5 hours of sleep a day when im supposed to get 9-10 thats like half the hours. so can you give me any sugggestions? and i am not willing to take sleeping pills. thanx a lot for you help.

A couple of things. I assume you've cut out caffiene, sugar, smokes, and other no-no's before bed.The biggest thing for me is to get some physical exercise. When your body is just drop dead tired, it is easy to sleep.Try taking Magnesium vitamin supplements. That helps with the wandering thoughts. Good luck..

I'm having that same problem right now -- thats why I'm here! I find that if i can't sleep after 1/2 hr I need to get up and do something for a bit (usually 20 mins to 1/2 hr) then try again. Usually works for me
try taking a table spoon of nyquil, that helps me sometimes
Don't put on music with lyrics. Get some CDs of Environmental sounds. These include, Thunderstorms, Ocean, Rain Forest, Brook and others. These are more soothing than music.
maybe you have a sleeping disorder? you should talk to your DR about it,,, and if its getting inthe way of your life you should for sure go.
if i can't sleep i always watch tv and i usaully fall asleep fast
