I can't straighten my thumb...?

I dislocated my thumb on Monday and I was noticing that I cant straighten my thumb right now (like to do a thumbs up). I'm sure its a little tight from being swelled up but the thing is it doesn't hurt when i try and straighten it, it just stops. Will this be like that forever or will it just take time to heal? Thanks
Answer:
You can indeed dislocate your thumb. There is probably nothing more the Doctor can do except to bind you hand. the pain will go away gradually.
go to the doctor.
you can't dislocate your thumb because its not a ball and socket joint lol it probably just hurts alot go see the doctor and remember you can't dislocate your thumb.
yea sweetie you deff need to go to the doctor!! iv dislocated a couple fingers and iv never had that happen before!
http://www.dynomed.com/encyclopedia/ency...And to the poster that said you cannot dislocate your thumb is completely wrong. You have 3 joints in each thumb and that includes the one at the wrist so of course you can dislocate them. It is good you are going to the doctor because they would need to do some xrays to make sure you also didn't tear something inside. He may have not popped it completely into place and may need to be done again and splinted up.
