I can't get to sleep at night?

I will go to bed at about midnight and usually can't get to sleep until past 3:00AM. Are there any tips for getting to sleep besides sleeping pills?
Answer:
Do just like vanity said and turn the air up and bundle up, also try and eat a relatively large snack. If that doesn't work than sacrifice a day by not napping during the day so that your sleep routine gets regular again.

Lots of exhausting exercise.
If you drink alot of caffiene during the day (Coffee, Mt. Dew etc...) you might want to lay off it for a few days or so.
Count sheeps...just like to say:one sheep..two sheeps..three sheepss.four sheepsss...the rest can be done in the same manner..
I dunno what your eating habits are but I would try not to eat anything heavy after 6 pm,also try not to exercise late at night,try to drink a lightly warm glass of milk..it works for me it might work for you..good luck!
count sheep (lol). try reading, or just watching some tv before going to bed (make it part of your sleeping ritual, explained below). relaxing and getting in the mood of sleeping often helps. also try to listen to some of your favourite music, and if that doesn't work listen to slow, calm music. drink camomile or honey tea before going to bed, that also helps. Exercise during the day, preferably in the late afternoon before dinner. Aerobic exercise, not necessarily "aerobics," but the type that gets your heart beating, gets you sweating and panting for 20 minutes or more is better, but 45 minutes to an hour of brisk walking will also be sufficient.Avoid heavy meals before bedtime, but also avoid going to bed hungry. A very small snack about an hour before bedtime may be helpful. Avoid drinking alcohol or use of other such substances in the evening. Avoid moderate-to-heavy use during the day. If you continue to have problems, stop use completely. Reduce caffeine and nicotine consumption as much as possible. If you must have coffee, have it only in the morning and have no more than two cups. Develop a sleep ritual before bedtime. This is some relaxing activity you do every night in the same order at about the same time before you get into bed. Avoid vigorous physical or mental activity and emotional upsets. A hot shower or bath may help you relax. Avoid napping during the day, unless you want to take a quick "power" nap no longer than 20 minutes and no later than the afternoon. Keep your room temperature between 60 and 70 degrees farenheit.Eliminate non-sleep activities in bed (such as reading or doing other work) to strengthen the association between your bed and sleeping (unless these other activities are part of your sleep ritual.)

try drinking tea, in the pharmacy they sell sleeping tea.
do some meditating. when i have trouble sleeping, i turn off all of the lights and sit down to think about everything that is occuring in my life. for me it is usally my parents limited acceptance of my lacto-vegan diet, for you, it might be that your dog died or something. you just need to think about your life in general, think about things causing you stress, figure out solutions to these problems, for example, if your dog died, i find comfort in thinking that it is in a better place and at peace. after doing all of this sitting in the dark with your eyes closed, you will be comforted, and more than likely, a little tired. with the satisfaction of knowing that these stress related problems will soon be solved, you will be able to lie down and have a comfortable, restful sleep. good luck.

Yes there is an answer I was a complete insomniac for years, unil I went to the health food store and the women told me to try "Ionic-Fizz". (It's mostly Magnesium which releases Calcium which helps you relax.) Keep a structured schedule- go to bed the same time make a routine. Don't watch TV before bed.
You can also try "Deep Sleep" (which is mostly Passion Flower) Also from the Health food store. Good Luck
You might try reading. Also, it seems like if I rent a video, I'm asleep 5 minutes into the movie. Seriously, if I can't get to sleep, I don't just lay there...I get up and do something like read or do Sudoku's or crosswords. Pretty soon...I'm sleepy. Hope this helps.
Take a long ,warm bath, listen to some relaxing music, read a boring book, or try meditating, best wishes, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite !!
relaxation tapes are wonderful %26 so are easy listening cd's or soft instrumental music , they sure are a help to me.
