I can't sleep at night, i worry about pointless things, Help ?

I can't sleep at night any more cause i worry about pointless things that might or never happen, does anyone ahev any tips for clearing my thoughts and to help me sleep again ?
Answer:
ok dude i have like the same problem, and i can promise you that what most people say, like watch tv til you fall asleep, listen to the radio, etc. DOES NOT WORK. i'm always focusing on things that worry me, but when i don't im usually focusing on something nice, but that doesnt help me sleep either! basically the only way to fall asleep is to avoid thinking whatsoever! if you sense a thought trying to enter your head tune it out! tune it out!
You might try setting aside a certain time of the day to think about things and see if that helps. Otherwise you need to learn some progressive relaxation techniques which you can search for online. Most of the time insomnia is caused by the reason you're describing here and other similar situations. There are many effective strategies for dealing with these problems that you'll find online by searching under sleep hygeine.
before you go to sleep write down all the things that are bothering you or on your mind in a journal, or simply read a boring book in bed, it will make you sleepy so then you just pass out in the bed!
same. except i dont worry about "pointless things". i simply just get waken up easily. what do you worry about? my friend had the same problem, and she started exercising a lot, and that really helped her sleep well
Try some drugs or alcohol. Legal drugs please. Try a psychologist as well.
Meditation and self-hypnosis can be very helpful in clearing your mind of life's worries. Have a warm bath, use some relaxing aromatherapy oils, get comfy and try to clear your mind completly. Everytime a worry enter, just focus on something pleasant; try to imagine you are in your favourite quiet place. I hope this helps.
sorry,i'm the least proper person to consult you cause i have the same problem...i lay down on bed and start thinking about things and get stressed... at first it took me several minuteso sleep, but nothings seem better... maybe because i've somehow managed to sleep faster... dunno how... try cleaning your mind before going to bes. you could start with a book or listening to music. if things keep this way, see a doctor who may be able to purscribe you with a med that will relax your nervo syst and therefore help you sleep without worries.
i'm not a doctor, but i've experienced this before. i even worry about things like a leaking faucet while i lay on the bed at night. Its frustrating esp when you have to wake up early the next morning. i took advice from my friend to do some light exercise at night about two hours before i turn in. Its supposed to regulate oxygen flow in your brains thus help you sleep better. and it also exhausts you, so you'll just fall asleep fast. jogging is good, but if you are too lazy, simply stretching is good too. unless of course you know how to do yoga.if that doesnt work for you, perhaps plugging on some nice instrumental music will help? i like listening to instrumental soundtracks. it'll help me doze off.if all that fails, then you'll really have to count sheep.
Worry is not a solution. In fact, worry is itself a problem. It is an added problem to the ones you already have. Let me preach a little if you don't mind. We all have worries. Nobody is without worries. Whoever has no worry has to worry if he or she should enter the mental institution. But with all the worries that we have, we still have to live through one day at a time. There is still the next day and the next and the next. So imagine if you are going to carry these worries from one day to another to another. Don't get paranoid over everything. If it happens, it will happen. If it does not happen, it will not happen. Don't put fear into yourself. Don't threaten yourself. Just relax and let go. Watch t.v. until you sleep. Listen to the radio until you sleep. Read until you sleep. Talk to somebody until somebody finds you snoring away.
