I bruised my foot badly playing racketball in the middle of April and it still hasn't healed yet. Suggestions?

I went to my doctor once in may and he prescribed me antibiotics, but that didn't work. I went back in June and he prescribed me different antibiotics, still no luck. I'll be going back in a few days to get it checked out again. I believe he'll be giving me a shot in the foot and he said that should hopefully get rid of the pain. I'm just getting very paranoid not because it has been over 2 months and it's still not 100%. This fall I want to try out for the Michigan State track team and I should have started training in the beginning of summer but I obviously couldn't because of my foot. I'm hoping it heals by the end of this month or else I'll pretty much have no chance of walking on the team. In the mean time, I'd like to know why it's taking so long and what I can do to help the pain.

do you think you might have hemophilia?
try to go to the foot docor tell the doctor your recently going to your going to sue them because they havent fixed your problem
broken?
You could have fractured a bone in your foot. Insist that your doctor xray it if he hasn't already.
Did you get xray's or MRI's? Most likely you could have either broken it or torn or damaged a lot of tendons and ligaments. Those take several months to heal with proper care, and so do breaks!
R ur doctors absolutely sure that it is only bruised and not hurt in any other way. I had a car accident on February 7th, 2000 and my left knee hit the dash board, I got a pretty good contusion (bruised bone) on my knew. My doctor said it would take awhile to heal 6 months to a year. Well, it has been 7 yrs %26 5 months and it still hasn't healed. Of course having a bruised knee is very hard to soak. I would recommend you to soak your foot in epsom salt water, it helps to some extent.
Hi John L :
Man ! ... do I feel sorry for you.
You've made all the right moves, especially with visiting your family doctor.
I really believe your doctor is just a pill-pusher or a true " quack ! "
If you don't understand the money-racket, you should know that doctors get a huge $ kick-back from the drug manufacturing companies when they sell their drugs. That's why so many doctors are pill-pushers.
You'd better request, from your doctor, to be referred to a specialist. You'll go broke paying for all his pills !
Your personal story really is sad.
Give your bruised foot a chance to heal.
When I think about it, you could have very well splintered a bone near your ankle.
I seriously don't like the thoughts of your doctor giving you a shot in the the foot or ankle. He said it would ONLY get rid of the pain. He didn't say, " CURE ! "
If he ' masks the pain ' and you think you'll start training ... you could re-injure it and you wouldn't realize it because it would be numb at the time from the needle or 'shot'.
So, be careful. Maybe,as a pain relief, you could stick your foot in a bucket of ice.
Maybe wrap it in ice.
I don't like your doctor much.
by what you say, it sounds more like tendon injury causing tendinitis. if its that it will take hella lot of time to heal. also foot is a bad place for such an injury cos you ll be using it even to go to the bathroom. antibiotics useless. anti-inflammatory and lots and lots of rest needed. absolutely no training. ice wont help at this stage. immobilise the foot if its possible and minimal walking should help you recover in a month if its tendinitis.
