I broke my pinkie toe about 6 months ago and when it accidentally gets hit now, it hurts really bad. Why?

I dont understand. Its healed and everything, but I hit it yesterday by accident on a table trying to move around my sisters dogs and it hurt so bad. Its not broken again. Its just weird to me I guess. Ive never broken anything else before. Is it supposed to still feel sore?
Answer:
I would say get it checked out by a dr, it shouldn't still hurt 6 months later if it is healed, although it's possible you damaged some nerve or the bone healed in a weird form... it's too bad doctor's can't do much about it but they may be able to re-break it and tell you how to handle it so that it heals properly the next time around...
afraid so bruising to the bone can take years to go i broke my ankle in 1986 and when i have a hot bath or shower the bruising is still apparent allso watch out for cold snaps in weather changes and arthritis
you will continue to feel it mabee not all the time but on certain occasions. Ive cracked lots of things like ribs and wrist/hand and a leg or 2 but not broken anything. And i feel it when it gets cold out or when i have stressed the certain part. It also may not have heeled correctly but the only other option is to re break it and reset it. warm water always works for me or a warm wrap to get the circulation going for me.
It will be tender for YEARS! It suffered a trauma. Poor little piggy!
lol. In my experience the pinky toe is the worst thing to break or injure. Because it is usually under some sort of pressure so much of the time, walking, running, standing even being encased in a shoe. You may never "get over it" I broke mine 28 years ago and still live in fear of an accidental "Bump".Of course I may be mental...lol or a wuss.;)
yeah, i broke my piggy toe whe i was 8, and im 14 now and it hurts like hell when i just hit it lightly. your to will probably always be like that, so just take care not to stub it on stuff. (although it may be unavoidable sometimes)
Happens.
I've done the same to my BIG toe -- and 45 years later, it will still act up on me from time to time. You learn to take better care of it to keep this from happening. OUCH!
Sorry, but the little guy probably didn't heal right. It happens a lot. There's really not a lot that can be done, because it's a pretty small bone in there, and a splint or cast just won't work. You may feel this for a long time. Again, sorry.
