I burnt my ear with my hair straightener; what should I do?

The burn is on the top rim of my ear and is about 2cm long. The skin peeled as soon as it happened but not any more since (its been three hours). Right after it happened I iced it and then put first aid cream on it. It hurt really bad for awhile but now feels fine. I just started to get worried when I felt a sticky fluid on the burn. What should I do and is this normal?
Answer:
You want to keep the wound clean, but don't use soap!! Soap strips the natural oil off your skin that is helping the wound heal. I would suggest using neosporin if you aren't already. That will help, as will putting a small bandage on it. The ear is a little harder to bandage, so if you can't get one on there, it's fine. The clear fluid is what your body makes to help the skin heal. It will dry and crust over. That's normal. Leave it alone and don't pick at it. The most important thing about burns is preventing infection, so keeping anti-biotic ointment, or first aid cream will be what you need to do. Try to keep your hair away from your ear too. That will help the healing process. It's hard, but it will help it heal faster.
ouch
sounds like you are doing everything right..
Gotta put some burn cream on it straight away. It's gonna hurt for a long while.
Sylvadine cream. (spelling?) It's good for burns. May have to ask your doctor for it, but burns tend to hurt until they heal.
just keep icing it, the fluid is just your body healing. dont get too worried.
Keep it dry and apply some antibiotic powder. Since it is small, it will heal soon. I feel sorry for you, I know it hurts a lot. Good luck!
Gently clean your ear with soap %26 water twice a day. At nighttime, cover with a bandaide to keep germs out, but remove in AM. Once it scabs over, stop using a bandaid.
The fluid is normal; simply healing like it should.
Your burn is oozing, which is natural. I would put some aloe extract onto your burn and definitely keep it clean to avoid infection.
You need to keep it open to air so that it can heal properly, but I would be more careful when using your straightener.
It's okay, we're all clumsy like that sometimes.
Sounds like a normal burn, but you need to make sure you keep it clean and dry. No hairspray or gel and mousse until it heals and I'd forgo the straigtening until it heals as well so you don't accidentally burn the same spot again.
Watch for swelling, redness, and/or oozing that's yellow or green. If you experience any of that, you should visit the doc.Good luck!
it sounds like its pretty normal, but a little extreme for just a straightner. i have done this before, but never to this extreme. i'm going to recomend calling a doctor/ possibly your doctor (or if you are under 18 and living with your parents) have your mother look at it and get a second opinion on it. i don't see you dying over it, really. just give a local doctor a call (maybe even the hospital if you want, not much of a difference) and tell her the story and see what she recommends. does that work for you? you'll be fine, don't stress, i mean really, what's the worst theat'll happen?i also recommend (personally) to keep it clean and dry, keep it aways away from any type of hair styling product, when you wash it wash it with only water, or with a little soap, yes, it may burn. when you go to bed, cover it possibly with a cloth or something because if it's that basd, don't put a bandage over it because it may peel up again. remove it in the morning and take a look. put some neosporn on it or something and you'll be just fine. anyways, once again, don't stress over it!
Yes, that's normal. Just don't do anything. Personally, I think the creams and gels just cause more pain. I leave it there.
Put some lavender oil on it
The sticky fluid is normal. Just putting cream on it and ice it when it's uncomfortable. It should be fine by tomorrow, just don't pick at it!
i would suggest keeping your hair up too, keep it clean.
The sticky fluid is serous fluid and is normal. It is the body's way of forming a scab. Aloe vera gel could help it feel better.Just be sure to watch for infection! And change brands of hair products!
It will ooze. It's completley normal just keep icing it and make shure you put peroxide on it with a cotton ball. After that First Aid Ointment again.Hope this helped!
Maybe buy a flat iron and stay away from chemical straighteners.
there is only one solution to this problem...chop your ear off. its as simple as that. ;) good luck! hope you don't bleed to death!!
ok never ice a burn this is bad for it.you need to use a product called sterile paraffin wax or aqueous cream bp. ask about either of these products at a good pharmacy. cover the burn on your ear with the paraffin - it will melt and form a protective layer over the burn - this will reduce pain as it protects the sensitised nerves. it also seals in moisture and allows new cells to heal without being so easily damaged.keeping you hair up will help, you need to wash your ear and reapply the paraffin every 4-6 hours.never put ice or vinegar or milk or butter on a burn - cold water for 20 minutes then cling wrap and off to a hospital. if not a hospital as written above until healed.hope this helps and good luck
clean it off with a wet napkin apply some neospirn and put a bandade on it
LMAO
